Hello I am a 26 year old female... I have no children and not breastfeeding So I am wondering why the past few days I have been experiencing peeling dry skin on my breast (areolas)... This is an issue ive never had and I know I cant be pregnant I just finished my period 2 days ago... Any answers would be helpful or tips on how to get rid of this...( currently uninsured so any advice would be wonderful thank you! )
Peeling and dryness of the areola region also occurs due to climate changes and also hydration level of the body at times. Unless you have any other symptoms, this should not be worrisome.
Please note, that dryness of the skin around the nipple and the areolas can leave open cracked skin. If left untreated or properly cared for, this can lead to an infection, as infection-causing organisms can enter through these cracks in the skin and cause infections.
The use of petroleum jelly should help in keeping the skin from cracking. If this persists for a long duration, visiting a doctor would be beneficial.
I hope I have succeeded in answering your questions, you could write back to me anytime for further clarifications.
Best wishes.
