Have Pimples On Face. Prescribed Azithromycin. Using Azimac. What Can Be Done?
Hi Doctor,
I am 26 year old lady. I had prescribed to use Azithromycin tablets 250mg for pimples on my face as a course of 6 months, 3 tablets twice in a month. I have completed the course and it was effective, pimples reduced, but after 4-5 months pimples reappeared. After a year I started taking Azimac 500 mg 3 tablets; and its effective till one and half month and I again use Azimac 500 mg 3 tablets. My question is, whether it’s a correct method to continue Azimac 500 mg 3 tablets whenever I feel pimples are arising and more in my face. I thought of continuing myself Azimac 500 mg 3 tablets whenever pimples are more forms puss. Is there any problem in continuing this method? Untill what age can I continue?
Azithromycin is one of the treatment of acne, However due to fear of drug resistance it is not commonly recommended.
It is also not very effective when compared to retinoids. Retinoids are given in selective condition in females as it has harmful effect on pregnancy.
Please meet a dermatologist for exact diagnosis and treatment and discuss regarding retinoids.
