Have Pins And Needles From Thumb To Finger. MRI Done. Is The Report Normal?
I have been having positional intense pins and needles down my right arm into my thumb and pointer finger. I just had an MRI and it says...at C5-C6 small broad posterior disc osteophyte complex resulting in effacement of anterior thecal sac and there is severe right sided neural foramina narrowing. Can you explain what that really means and what kind of doctor do I see and how do they fix it.
According to reports your have degenerative disease of spine
1. There is osteophyte at C5-6 level which is effacing anterior thecal sac and it is causing severe narrowing of right neural foramen. This is causing you the symptoms you have. Osteophtes form due to chronic stress on annulus fibrosis.
Treatment includes physiotherapy or surgical. Effectiveness of both modalities are same. So,physiotherpay should be tried first. It causes strengthening of Para spinal muscles and it prevents further changes. Surgery should be the last option. There are also medicines available for pain relief. Get well soon.
