Have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Am I A Good Candidate For Gastric Bypass Surgery?
I am 29 years old and currently have Poly-Cystic Ovary Syndrome which greatly effects my weight and metabolic rate. As I have gotten older, the symptoms and weight gain have gotten worse. My BMI is an astoundingly scary 40, yet I do not even begin to look that obese, I currently wear a women's size 10-12, but I was wondering if I would be a good candidate for gastric bypass surgery? And if so, would you recomend it? Would it help with my PCOS at all? Thanks.
As your BMI shows to be 40, you are indeed a good candidate for gastric bypass surgery, which will certainly help you with your weight issues and in turn prevent so many other health related issues.
I would recommend it and advise you to go ahead with the same but only after a complete check up by a physician, and once a go ahead has been given by the GP, please do go ahead.
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. PCOS is the root cause of obesity due to glucose intolerance and hormonal imbalance. Gastric bypass surgery is not fit for you . First of all consult a gynecologist and get his treatment for PCOS . Once pcos is under control and still overweight then consider for bypass . Good luck. Dr. HET
