Have Recurring Sharp Pain In Heart Area. Should I See A Heart Specialist?
I am currently 19 years old about to be a sophomore in college and the start of my senior year of high school I started getting a sharp pain in my heart area and mosty felt it when i took deep breaths but stiil felt it and the pain didn't buy a few minutes and it wasn't frequent, it might occur every couple weeks/months. They stopped some year ago and 2 weeks ago they started again. The first time it lasted for 30-45 minutes and then it happened again a couple days later only lasting about 5 minutes. It occurred again yesterday for about 5 minutes and it happened once more today for 1 hour. What is this? Should I go see a heart specialist to let them run tests?
Dear Sir Thanks for your query to us. Usually a sharp pain, not provoked by exercise/ running/ stress , lasting for less than a minute, increasing or getting altered by deep breaths, which can be pin-pointed over the heart is not likely to be anginal. Still since you have this pain for quite sometime and it lasts sometime for 30-45 minutes, I would recommend you to see your physician or internist first and get evaluated. Sincerely Sukhvinder
