Have Severe Pain In The Pelvic Area During And After The Periods. No Medication Till Now. What To Do Now?

I am experiencing sharp pains in my pelvic area during and after my menstrual period. The pains are really sharp on and off - almost like contractions. The pains are not every month but the months they are present they are really painful. The pain sometimes go to my lower back.
Do I need to see my doctor or can I take something over the counter?

Hi, You are having pain in pelvic area, during and after period, pain even in lower back. It is not present every month.
The condition you are facing is called dysmenorrhea, usually caused by infection in the pelvis.
If physiological you may not need any medication, only pain killers may solve the problem.
As it is due to infection, you better consult a gynic for diagnosis and treatment, there may be candidiasis, trichomoniasis. Thank you.
