hello I have a skin abscess a boil in my armpit now its going two weeks its a recurring boil on the same armpit last I had it it was in JUNE it had no problem in ripening and it burst on its own and I drained it sterilizing it with sulphuric surgical spirit and bandage it now I have it again and I went to the pharmacist and she gave me ampicillin trihydrate 250mg. my question will it help me
You might be having a condition known as hidradenitis suppurativa. The intial treatment consists of the following
Local hygiene and ordinary hygiene Weight reduction in patients who are obese Use of ordinary soaps and antiseptic and antiperspirant agents (eg, 6.25% aluminum chloride hexahydrate in absolute ethanol) Application of warm compresses with sodium chloride solution Wearing of loose-fitting clothing
If it is recurrent: Local incision and drainage of purulent lesions are often required in the acute phase, and, although these procedures are helpful in providing short-term relief, recurrent inflammation is almost inevitable. Proper antibiotic course is necessary and your pharmacist has given you that. If it is still troubling you, please consult surgeon.
