Have Strep, Fungal Infection, Bacterial Infection And E.coli Growth On Scrotum And Groin. Taking Lamisil And Augmentin. Will It Help?
I had a fungal infection and a secondary bacterial infection on my scrotum a month ago. It started with a fungal infection in my groin. I finished a round of Lamisil 250mg and Augmentin 875. I went to my dermo for a follow-up and he repeated a bacterial culture, which reveal a moderate growth of E.coli and Strept (Group B, beta-hemolytic). I originally had the strep. Can you tell me why I still have the strep and now E.coli?
Fungal infection are common in groin area specially if proper hygiene and dryness is not maintained.
You have bacterial infection also that is why course of antibiotic was used possible reasons for infection not cleared completely is there may be resistant organism and in this area E coli can come from gut as contamination they may not be pathogenic.
Please visit Physician and take appropriate antibiotics for sufficient long duration I am sure you will be cured in few days.
Anti fungal treatment is also for long duration and keep the area clean and dry to hasten recovery.
Hope this information helps you. Take care Good Luck. Dr.Akhilesh Dubey M.D
