Have Swollen Gum Tearing Away. New Teeth Is Growing. Is It Normal?

About 2 weeks ago, the gums at the back of my teeth is really swollen. It doesn t hurt, but it s uncomfortable. Recently, about a few days ago, a teeth is starting to appear at the back, right at the swollen part. The swollen gums are not so swollen now, but it s a little bit swollen. Today, the swollen part is tearing away. The rest of the gums are still intact, but the swollen part seems to be peeling away from my teeth. Is it normal?

hi and welcome,
The condition you have mentioned is definitely normal and it clearly indicates eruption of the wisdom tooth.
Wisdom tooth is the last tooth to erupt in the oral cavity and it normally erupts in the age group of 18 to 27 years or sometimes in later part of life.
wisdom tooth eruption is often associated with gum swelling , pain and discomfort , difficulty in opening the mouth.
the area is more susceptible to infection as it is difficult to clean ,deposition of food debris and bacterial plaque may lead to inflammation of the overlying mucosa known as pericoronitis.
i suggest you to maintain good oral hygiene by using cleaning the area regularly
using antiseptic mouthwash like chlorexidine or lukewarm saline water for mouth gargling helps prevent infection.
i hope this helps,
take care.

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

The condition which you have mentioned is completely normal occurs due to erruption of the wisdom tooth.
Wisdom tooth is the last tooth to errupt in the oral cavity , this area is difficult to clean and often leads to food deposition, bacterial accumalation, leading to redness and swelling of the overlying gums known as PERICORONITIS.
I would suggest you to maintain a good oral hygiene, avoid food accumulation in the area.
Use chlorhexidine mouthwash gargles twice daily.

Hope this helps out.

Hello,
Thanks for writing to us.
The swollen gums and tearing of gingiva at the back of tooth where new teeth is erupting is due the eruption of wisdom tooth which is impacted.
The pericoronal flap is inflamed causing swollen gums.
I would suggest you to get the flap overlying tooth removed by a dentist.
Take warm saline and betadine gargle.
Rinse mouth after every meals.take complete course of antbiotics -analgesics after consulting with your dentist.
The swelling will usually subside, once the teeth erupts completely.
Take care.

HELLO
THANKS FOR POSTING YOUR QUERY
yes it is normal
keeping the area clean, which is the best way to prevent the problem from returning. This usually involves brushing and flossing daily and rinsing your mouth with water several times a day. This will help prevent food particles from accumulating in the area
Toothache and soreness developing from an impacted wisdom tooth can range from mild to severe depending on the condition of the teeth and adjacent tissues. Mild pain and discomfort can be treated by rinsing mouth with a warm salt water mouthwash to ward off infection. Chewing a sugarless chewing gum on the affected side will help ease pain temporarily. Brush after every meal and keep the area clean to prevent bacterial contamination that aggravates the pain. If pain is more severe, visit the dentist. He or she will prescribe antibiotics and pain killers such as acetaminophen, aspirin or ibuprofen.
