Having Mirena. Experiencing Nausea, Breast Pain, Feverish. Also Have Bacterial Vaginosis. Advice?

I have had a Mirena IUD for the past two years. I can still locate the strings of the device. Last week I had a 5 day cycle from Tuesday to Saturday. Today I have felt nauseous and have had some breast pain. I have experienced the breast pain before as a side affect of the IUD. Earlier today I felt as if I had a fever. I don't know if I have a bug or what. I may also have BV also. I have had BV (treated medically) several times since having the device installed. Please advise because I do not feel well at all.

HI,
You have been using Minera IUD since 2 years & you are used to it.
Minera is an IUD with inbuilt Progestin. Thus it has two way actions to prevent conception. The side effects of the hormone are seen in your case-viz. - breast pain, nausea.
The fever you have is mostly due to bacterial vainitis/ accompanying viral infection.
Actually, Minera has a protective action for pelvic inflammation (It lessens the mucus secretions, menstrual flow) that is why your long standing vaginal infection has not been aggravated.
But the recurrence itself suggests inadequate treatment or bacterial resistance to the drugs in use.
I would advice a vaginal swab test along with culture & sensitivity test to locate the causative organism. Your Doctor will prescribe relevant medicines to cure the infection, please take his advice.
Local hygiene & a complete course of drugs along with regular follow-ups is a key for a complete cure.
Thanks
