Having A Hard Knot In Breast.

I am a 23 yr old female and yesterday I noticed what feels like a hard knot in my breast, I really don't want to go to the doctor but I am not sure what to do. Should I get it checked out?

The commonest causes for lumps in the breast in young women are benign i.e.non-cancerous. Two common causes are: 1) Fibrocystic breast disease: This occurs in more than 50% of all women. It is more noticeable in the period around your menstrual cycle, as it is influenced by hormone levels. The lumps are usually felt in the upper outer quadrants of the breast. However this is more common in women between 30 and 40 years of age. 2) Fibro adenoma of the breast - has been termed as 'mouse in the breast' because the lump is mobile. This is the most common benign tumor in the breast and is usually seen in the age group of 20-30 years . The exact cause of the knot in your breast can only be determined by a physical examination. Our advice to you is that you should see your GP for a physical examination of your breast. It is always recommended if you notice any new lump in your breast. We hope this information helped.
