Having Bump At The Root Of Helix On Outer Ear. Is It Serious?

at the root of helix ( outer ear ), a bump has developed over past 2 - 3 weeks. the inflammation and small pain (when pressure is applied) is localized, ie just at the root of the helix. From the feel of it, the bump could be a small pea size. The cotton bud used to glide easily at this spot, but no more. could it be a serious matter?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for query to H.C.M. Forum.
In my opinion may be due to sebacious cyst or dermoid cyst.
Consult a surgeon and get in excisional surgery.
It will take hardly 5-10 minutes.
Good luck.
