Having Deep Hacking Cough With Green Mucus. No Relief With Antibiotics. Having Low Grade Fever And Feeling Fatigue
I had a terrible deep hacking cough for 4 weeks. Antibiotics didn't help. I finally broke down and used my grandson's inhaler. It started breaking the congestion up and after about 2 weeks, I was feeling better. 1 month later, it's back. I hack and hack and finally get a pea-sized green piece of mucas about ever day or so. Now, I'm running a low grade fever and fatigue is overwhelming.
Welcome to HCM. Green mucus indicates bacterial infection. It will cure by complete course of proper antibiotic . If it is recurrent then go for cbc, esr, urine, rbs and chest x-ray. If required also go for sputum culture/s test and start proper antibiotic under guidance of your physician. Supportive medicines like nsaid, levocetrizine/montelukast,bronchodilator and ambroxol is required. Steam inhalation will be helpful to relieve the congestion very fast. Avoid deep fried food, cold drink, ice cream, flavored drinks and smoking if you have habit. Keep in touch with your doctor.
