Having Echo In Ear With Sinus Problem. Should I Be Worried?
Hi Doctor I am 50 years, male and reasonably healthy. Life in South Africa. It is high summer here. A few days ago a noticed an echo in my left ear. It is only some sounds (a fairly high pitch sound like sounds on the TV or police sirens). I do suffer sometimes from sinus problems. My hearing in the left ear does not seem to be affected. I do swim occassionally (the last time was in early December) and had a flu sympthoms from around the 11th to 21 December. But is fine now. Could you kindly assist me, Doctor. Hein
The hearing of echo in ear is described as tinnitus or ringing of left ear.
The hearing of the left ear is not affected.
Is the symptom of tinnitus accompanied by vertigo (light headedness and sensation of head turning).
If yes then you need to get an examination of your left ear and few investigations- tuning fork tests and sudiometry.
The inner ear is responsible for hearing and for mainatining balance and equilibrium.
Any abnormality in these functions should be sought out by complete ear examination.
Thanks and take care
