Having Extreme Stomach Pain, Given Laxatives, No Relief. What Can Be Done?

My son has been having extreme stomach pain. He cannot remember when he had a bowel movement. I am thinking he may have an impacted bowel however when I ask where it hurts he circles his stomach. I gave him so laxatives this morning. He is 20 years old.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Dear patient,

Thanks for the query. The best course of action would be to take him to the Emergency Department, where a more serious cause of constipation, such as an intestinal obstruction, can be ruled out.

Hope that is useful, wish you the best,

Dr. Brenes-Salazar MD
