Having Fever. Elevated SGOT And ESR Levels. What Does This Indicate?

thankkss... My Husband was suffering from fewer from a week..... we took up the blood test and found his ESR and SGOT (IFFC) was on increase. 27 and 21 respectively he went under a treatment now he is feeling ok ... But still to confirm we gain took a blood test but unfortunately his ESR and SGOT (AST) is again increased... that is 46 and SGOT 57... please help... and suggest Thanking you

Dear friend, welcome to HCM!

ESR is a non-specific test and can rise in any infection as an acute phase reactant. Neglect it.

SGOT rise is also very very minimal and is not worrisome. >40 is usually abnormal.
It may rise in many viral illnesses. Its importance is to be considered along with other tests and clinical picture altogether.

Presently see no worry. Keep a watch on jaundice.
