Having Heavy Bleeding. On Utovian. Done Ultrasound Scan And Smear Test. Reason?
I am 51 years old and have had regular periods, but since 30th march I have been bleeding quite heavy and doctor gave me utovian which I have been taking for 10 days, and the bleeding has stopped. I had an ultrasound scan on my womb in Feb and result was normal, as was my smear test 3 years ago. Had to go for my smear today and was horrified when the nurse and doctor couldnt reach my cervix to take an accurate test and I have been refferd to see a gyno on 14th may, needless to say quite worried, dont know what to think
No need to worry. There may not be a serious problem always. The bleeding you are having could be due to hormonal imbalance which is common during perimenopausal age group. As your recent scan report is normal, there may not be any local problem. With the progression of the age the cervix will become flushed with the vault, that can lead to difficulty in approaching it. When you consult gynecologist she can take the smear wit the help of speculum etc. For more details you can ask me through: http://www.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-sree-gouri-sr/63429 Take care.
