General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi

Hormonal imbalance is the main cause of irregular periods. Polycystic ovaries and hypothyroidsm should be ruled out.

Ultrasound pelvis,FSH LH hormone ratio ,thyroid profile and blood sugar level , body mass index is essential to identify the cause of irregular periods.

Hormonal pills should be taken monthly for 3 to 6 months for normal menstrual cycle to resume.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards
