Having Noticed Problem With Vision Due To Bells Palsy

My daughter has come down with bells palsy for the third time. Her vision has been affected with this. she has been on a very strong antibiotic to which she is no better. she was tested for lyme disease and the first test was positive the second was neg. and the third was inconclusive. She has no energy. She had a mri and more blood work which the dr. said showed nothing. He told her that the way her side of the face is will probally stay that way. She told me something is wrong. She says that you do not feel and look the way she does for nothing. Should she see a infectious disease dr. or what should she do. Please advise us, we know something is wrong but nothing is showing up.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
It seems from the history that your daughter is having facial nerve palsy. The common causes for facial nerve palsy are trauma, tumors, infections...
Some cases can be idiopathic and they are called as Bells palsy.
The treatment is by use of steroids for bells palsy.
The impairment of vision is because of dryness of cornea and requires use of artificial tears eye drops.
The facial nerve palsy requires evaluation by neurologist.
Hence I advice you to consult your neurologist for further examination and treatment.

Thank you
