Having Problems With Remaining Parathyroid Glands. Surgeon Said It Is Hyperclemesia. Need For Surgery?
i am currently having problems with my two remaining parathyroid glands and I would like to know the name of a endocrinologist in the area who could clarify this problem (my surgeon said it is hyperclemesia??) but other than another surgery I would like to know what my options are and what I can expect if I do not have more surgery. I am a 76 year old female in pretty good health otherwise. Sylvia K
Parathyroid glands for sure are implicated ion Calcium metabolism. Hypercalcemia means an increased in the blood levels of Calcium, which of course is not good for the system. An important part in the evaluation process, especially for this situation, is to be sure that the thyroid glands are actually the ones responsible for the high Calcium levels. Other common causes of increased blood calcium like raised milk consumption, bone disease, ingestion of certain drugs, granulomas and dehydration might be carefully considered too.
Parathyroid disease however remains the commonest and main cause of this condition. Approach any teaching hospital or referral hospital around your area for an endocrinologist.
Thanks and hope this helps.
Kind regards,
