Having Sinus Tachycardia. Feels The Causes May Be Blood Related/anaemia Or Thyroid. Any Treatment?

I have just been told I have sinus tachycardia and have had an ECG and Echo test today. We are waiting for blood results but the consultant thinks the cause may be blood related/anaemia or my thyroid. Can you explain what could be wrong with my thyroid and what the treatment may be please? Also am I at risk now for heart attack?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Tachycardia is an increase in heart rate. IN the normal heart beat, a 'signal' arises from a specific aspect of the heart (the sinoatrial node) , this signal then spreads along a specific pathway to allow for the heart to beat (contract).

Sinus tachycardia is diagnosed when the increase in heart beat is related to increased impulses or signally from the sinoatrial node.

Anemia and thyroid disease are potential causes of sinus tachycardia. If it is related to anemia then your doctor can determine the cause and type of anemia and treat it appropriately.

If it is related to excess thyroid hormone then there is also treatment that can reduce the thyroid hormone levels.

Once the particular problem is treated your heart rate should return to normal. It does not mean that you are increased risk of heart disease.

I hope this helps
