Having Slow And Fast Pulse With Skipped Beats And Chest Pains. Feeling Tired. Medical Attention Required?

hi im 42 yr female. iv been having left back pain for 2 weeks. This week iv had slow and fast pulse with skipped beats sob and chest pains. Very tired. Left sided headaches and My left hand also swelled up. I had a cxr and its says heart at upper limit of normal cardiothoracic ratio is 15.7/32.3. Should i go to hosp if my chest pain starts up again ?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.
Although the cardiothoracic ratio is not a very accurate way of telling us the size of the heart, your symptoms are definitely disturbing. I think you should get an ECG, a stress test and a troponin level ( if required).
it would be better to see your physician as soon as possible as we are probably looking at some kind of ischemic heart disease ( a condition where blood supply to heart is reduced). till then, avoid exertion, heavy food and any kind of stress ( including emotional stress)
