Headache. CT Scan Shows Migraine. Want Second Opinion
My husband has been getting these sudden severe headaches the last few days. The pain is so severe that he cannot work. He went to the ER yesterday and they did a CT scan and just drugged him up and said he had a migraine . I have had migraines before and never have I had one like the ones he has had. I would like to know what else we can do to get a better look at his symptoms. I just don t know where to start. He would like to visit with a neurologist just to get a second opinion. Could there be another reason for these very sudden severe headaches?
Usually sudden onset throbbing headache which is unilateral to begin with and progresses to become bilateral points to migraine type of headache. He has normal CT scan so any serious problem has been ruled out. Other possibility in his cause is hypertension and any problem of eye and ENT. If you want to be on safer side you can consult a ENT doctor to rule out any problem of sinusitis as such presentation is common in sinusitis. Migraine is easy to treat if medicines are take under proper prescription. Medicines like Triptans, SSRIs, sodium valporate are very effective in migraine. As CT is normal so there is no need to worry, be assured.
Hello there, thanks for asking. First headaches should be investigated for many possible etiologies (causes). It has been assessed there and he has been told that he has migraine. Many people with migraine have another person in the family who have chronic headaches. However, if he has any headache in the future which would be different should be investigated again. Best wishes.
