Headache, Pain When Coughing Or Sneezing. Neck Pain

I ve had a headache for about 5 days, not always continuous but nearly always there. Its hard to explain where but its at the back/top on the right. Its much more painful when I cough, sneeze , strain or bend over. When its at its worse, it even hurts when I laugh. I m really worried now. I ve tried aspirin , ibuprofen and even migraine tablets. Not all at once though! My neck also started to hurt today but that could be because I slept on the sofa last night.

thank you.is there any previous history of same type of headache, headache on waking in morning or associated vomiting? all of these features described by you are consistent with raised intracranial pressure.though this type of headache is usually relieved by simple analgesic but not happened to you.at this situation you will consult with a neurologist.

Psychiatrist Dr. Jonas Sundarakumar's  Response
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.

Headache can be due to numerous causes. Some of the common causes are tension headache, migraine, cluster headache, stress or a manifestation of an underlying neurological or systemic problem.

In your case, a likely possibility for this bout of one-sided headache lasting for a few days is Migraine. However, other posibilities also need to be ruled out. Since this problem has not responded to the ususal pain killers, I would suggest that you see a doctor for a proper physical examination and further treatment.

Wish you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Jonas Sundarakumar
