Headaches, Dizziness. Normal Blood Sugar. Taken Cortizone Shot. What Is Happening?

my blood sugar is usually normal to low, I am a healthy 47 year old who eats mostly protein, vegetables, nuts and for something sweet, I eat a couple of dark chocolate covered almonds. I have been having headaches so I took my blood sugar because I was also feeling a little dizzy....much to my surprise, my blood sugar was 192. I had a cortizone shot today, I am not sure if that could affect my blood sugar. I was wondering if I should be very concerned or if this kind of thing happens sometimes?

Thank you

Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.

Cortisone injections (steroids) can cause sugar to go up. However, to be sure, you should get your fasting blood sugar and glycosylated hemoglobin (which gives the average blood sugar over the past three months) checked up, to ensure that you are not developing diabetes mellitus.

Please get back if you require any additional information.

Best wishes,
