Heavier Periods, Ultrasound Showed Fibroid And Endometrial Thickening. What To Do?

I am 44 and have had heavier periods the past year - 24 hours of heavy bleeding - then very little for 5 days. Just had an ultrasound and it showed a small fibroid and endometrial thickening of 13.9 in another area that may or may not have a polyp . One doctor in the practice said I should have a sonohystergram followed by a D&C and the other a uterine biopsy - is 13.9 too thick and which procedure is best?

Hi,
Thanks for the query.

Among the two options better to choose the first option after taking your doctor's advice.
As by the sonohysterogram the presence of the polyp can be noted.
And by D&C scrappings from all over the endometrial layer can be taken.
By sending this to histopathological examination the cause for thickening of the endometrium can be identified.
And also D&C is useful for curative purpose also.
