Hi there Chetna.
At the outset, please do relax. If you have met the dermatologist, he/she would have 'assessed' the 'type' of hair loss & given you treatment accordingly. Dont Panic...50-100 hair lost /day is actually par for the course in an average adult. Being upset, will if anything, increase this number. Go with the suggested medication..apply it on dry scalp twice/daily & if anything, you may reduce the percentage to 2%. Dont handle your hair too much; avoid shampooing for more than two (2) times/week & use a broad toothed comb, avoiding brushes that damage & do not straighten or 'iron' your hair as is the bane of young girls nowadays! There is no 'best' medication. These things are tailor made for individual patients' & one will have to consult with you to be clear what is good for you. Should you wish a further detailed consult, please feel free to get in touch with me on this site using the 'ask-a-specialist' feature or feel free to drop into my clinics @ the Vikram Hospital, Bangalore. Cheers & Good luck!
