Hello, My Husband Has Been Diagnosed With A Large Kidney

Hello, My husband has been diagnosed with a large kidney stone (5x7) He has never had them before. I am his wife and have had many stones over the years and lost my left kidney to a Staghorn calculas. This is why I don't understand how he is coping with the pain and discomfort . He has not taken any of the Percocet, just arthritis strength Tylenol. He has only had one bad bout of pain with this, the rest has been basically discomfort. When he went to the urologist, he did not mention his abd. being swollen. he is so distended now that his belly-button that was as they say "an innie", is now an outtie! He has been working and eating normally. His father was an alcolholic and had a stomach aneursym(sorry spelling!) for years that never burst and he died last year at 72. None of the doctors would touch it of course, and we thought he was a walking time bomb, but cancer is what took him. They did a CAT scan in ER and Dr. (Urologist) ordered an abd ultrasound which he had a week or so ago. The Dr. called me a few days ago saying thee was so much swelling in there, that he could not see the stone (KUB didn't show it either). He is repeating that next Weds. I know he is going to get the same result b/c he is so swollen. I did not know that urologist wasn't aware of how bad swelling was or I would have told him when he called. I couldn't get him in with the Dr. again until next Monday. My husband finally let on that he is afraid of what his dad had. Since it only started after the stone was found, I feel like it is the stone. Being a (retired) nurse, I am afraid this is going to go really badly before he is seen again. Does he have chance of Sepsis and other things if it is not taken care of soon? I was going to make him go to ER again on Sat. He will insist on going to work if he can. Thanks in advance-what do u think?
