Hello, My Baby Was Born At 35.5 Weeks And At

Hello, my baby was born at 35.5 weeks and at 3 lbs. He is now 3 months old and due to have surgery to correct a hernia. However, he has been very anemic since birth. Today, his hct measures low at 27.5 %. Yet his hemoglobin is normal at 9.4 g/dL. Is his hematocrit so low that we should cancel his (not urgent) surgery? We have been trying to correct his anemia with iron drops, which he hates. Thank you.
