Hi Doctor my Bp is 160-150/100-90 for 15 days. I had irregular heart beat for past 4 months. Can i take Nebistar -SA morning and Olmasartan 20 in night to reduce this? Please provide your suggestions. I am taking Nebistar 5 morning and Olmasartan 20 night. But Bp is not reducing.

Hello,

Your blood pressure isn’t well controlled. Check for causes of persistent high BP. Control your salt intake, avoid taking extra salt and salty snacks. Stay away from stress (physical and emotional). Get T3, T4, TSH, kidney functions tests done. Take quality sleep for not less than 8 hours. Maintain a BP chart. Monitor your BP twice daily (morning and evening) and note it. This helps to fine-tune treatment safely.

Test for heart problem or CAD. Get clinically examined by a GP, get ECG or 24-hour Holter monitor to evaluate the irregular heartbeat before adjusting beta-blockers. Do not to switch medication on your own to Nebistar-SA without medical supervision. Nebistar-SA contains a beta-blocker and a calcium channel blocker, both lower blood pressure and help control heart rate.

Olmesartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) and it lowers blood pressure, however it is through a different mechanism. interaction of these drugs can cause excessive blood pressure drop, slow heart rate (bradycardia), dizziness, or fatigue, especially if you already have an irregular heartbeat. Firstly, maintain a low-salt and low-fat diet. Limit caffeine intake as much as possible. Get adequate rest.

Avoid stress. Remain adequately hydrated always. Take food that is good for your BP, include moringa in your regular diet so that BP is controlled naturally. This diet and lifestyle change will help to maintain BP, maintain regular BP chart. However, get examined by a local GP so that cardiac, kidney, thyroid, etc., issues can be ruled out.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
