Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I had a bad ski fall almost 4 weeks ago. Xrays and an MRI revealed I have a "comminuted nondisplaced tibial pleateau fracture including the distal ACL insertion site. Acl is in intact but avulsion off the distal insertion is not excluded." My orthopedic doctor gave me a bendable brace and crutches and told me not to place any weight on it for 4-6 weeks. He also told me to do knee exercises so it does not get stiff. I have been following his instructions religiously. Approximately how long will it take for the bone to heal enough so i can put full weight on it again and walk without crutches? When i take the brace off (even for a few minutes) my knee still feels wobbly, does this mean its not healing properly? I am a 46 year old female if that makes any difference. Any suggestions on how i can get it to heal quicker? Thank you very much! My next appt. isn't until March 30th...
