Hips And Outer Legs In Pain. No Arthritis. Chiropractor Of No Help?

When I lay down at night my hips (very top of the outside of my leg) starts to hurt. I ve had xrays and there is no arthritis and I ve seen a chiropractor and that doesn t help. I tried sleeping with a pillow between my legs for months but that did nothing. It s fine if I lay on my back and when I get up. What causes this?
