History Of Miscarriage. Trying To Conceive. What Are VDRL And APAA Tests For?
I am 27 years old.I had a missedabortion in september at 6 weeks.I have been trying to conceive from december.my LMP was on 18.3.2013.Dr asked to do a follicular test on 29th.Is it necessary, after test will i have to depend on medication .Dr has also asked to do VDRL and APAA tests.whate are these tests.I am also asked to take susten 200 daily from 4th onwards
Hi and thanks for the query,
It is very necessary to do a complete evaluation for infertility, called an infertility work up. To start with, VDRL is a test for Syphillis and the APA is to test for anti phospholipidantibodies. Presence of these conditions are very frequently associated with recurrent abortions or miscarriages that might go unnoticed by the patient. Other further examinations like an obstetric ultrasound, hysterosalpingography to determine any uterine malformations might be necessary. Examining your partner with appropriate tests to eliminate the male factor often associated with but neglected in infertility evaluations are very useful. I suggest you consult your infertility specialist or experienced gynecologist for further evaluation and management.
Thanks and best regards,
