Hit Head While Playing Basketball. Having Headache, Sensitivity To Light. See A Doctor?

My daughter hit her head during a basketball game 6 days ago. She was dizzy at first now just has a bad headache saying its a 7 out of 10 for pain level 10 being the worst. I have not taken her in. She saw a trainer that day and they said if she doesn t vomit to just rest. Her head still hurts and can not handle light. Should she be seen?

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

Most likely, your daughter does not have any internal brain injury.

As of now, you can manage her headaches with analgesics such as ibuprofen or diclofenac.

However, if it persists, or if she gets vomiting, double vision, etc, you should take her to ER and get a CT scan of the head done.

Best wishes,
Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM (Neurology)
