Hit On Ear, Feels Like Ear Popping And Fuzzy. How Long Will It Take To Recover?
Hi, I was slapped opened handed directly over my right ear by my girlfriend last Friday and it instantly became fuzzy. I can still hear out of it sorta, but it feels like it needs to be pop. When I do the usual method of decompression there is no change. As of now it is still fuzzy. What caused this exactly, how long is recovery, and what should I do meanwhile? -John
Hello,
Slapping over the ear with open hands usually leads to traumatic perforation of tympanic membrane(ear drum), which causes symptoms like diminished hearing, blocked sensation or ringing sensation in the ear. You have to consult a ENT specialist and get your ears checked. If there is a perforation found in your eardrum, it usually takes 6 weeks to heal or close completely and also it depends on how well you follow the treatment and instructions given by your doctor. Take care and wish you good health.
