Hives On The Skin After Having Unprotected Sex. On Benadryl. STD?

My girlfriend and i had unprotected sex. She broke out in hives the next day. She says that some are going away, but more keep popping up. Shes taking benadryl and that has an antihistamine in it. The benadryl makes some go away but when it wears off, new ones replace them. What should we do? Is it possible that i may have given her some sort of std or something? This is my first time having unprotected sex and i dont think i have anything she could catch. How long will these hives last for?

Hi,

Welcome to HCM.

Your girl friend's problem is definitely not due to STD/HIV. It must be some allergic manifestation only. Are you on any drugs or on treatment for any condition which could be the reason for the allergic manifestation.
Is it the first unprotected exposure for your girl friend. She may have allergic even to seminal plasma very rarely. Is she on any drugs or it may be an allergic reaction not related to the sexual activity at all. Only it was a co-incidence.
As your girl friend was already on antihistamines, these hives will not last longer than a week.
She will be alright.

Hi,
Welcome and thanks for posting your query to HCM.
After reading your query most thoroughly I can make out that your girl friend is suffering from the problem of Urticaria- which is simple problem of formation of red, evanescent, itchy lesions which remains for sometimes ( for few hours and then disappear by it self or by taking antihistamines ( as is present in cough syrup also). First of all the problem is not at all a sexually transmitted disease and can never be transmitted from one person to another by any means of transmission.
Now there are innumerable causes of urticaria and for the treatment part you should meet a dermatologist who can rule out the best possible cause and can treat her by simple main antihistamine drug such as loratadine or levocetrizine.
you should not at all be panicky about possibility of any STD regarding this situation.
Maintain practice of safe sex!!
