Hoe Can Ulcerative Colitis Be Treated?

I have Ulcerative Colitis ~ I was diagnosed Jan. 2014. I see my GI Dr. regularly. I was hospitalized this past August with diverticulitis. The past week or so I have the same pain in the area of the colon I had in August. I m afraid I have another infection but no fever. Is there a certain diet I can follow to prevent this ? I don t want another trip to the hospital....
