Hot, Sweaty, Body Shakes. Could It Just Be The Flu ?

I just got hot, sweaty, and my body got the shakes. I was doing mild work, nothing too strenuous, just my normal routine. I sat down because my body felt weak and shaky. I ate a candy bar and my work lunch, now I m still a little shaky, especially my arms, which feel weak. I m doing much better, but twenty minutes later I m still weak and a little shaky. Could it just be the flu?

hi there, the symptoms you have described are the autonomic reaction of the body to low oxygen delivary to the brain and other vital organsand this could be due to numerous causes most common of which are: hypogycemia, anemia, low blood pressure or decreased cardiac output due to any reason, hormonal changes as seen during perimenopausal phase if you are a female.Get a blood workup done which includes a complete hemogram, blood sugar level and an ECG and chest X-ray as a base line test. Depending on any abnormality that may be found in these tests you can get further investigation done in consultation with your family physician. In the meanwhile keep drinking plenty of fluids and rest.Take care,

Hi there ~

I understand your concerns. Having a hot, sweaty body with shakes can be the first signs of a flu and you should not be doing anything strenuous at this time since it could be a viral illness. Plenty of fluids along with rest and eating well would do the trick. I hope you visit with a doctor if things are not getting better.

I hope this helps. Take care! Have a lovely day!
