How A Fluid Filled Sore On The Tail Bone Area Be Treated?
I injured my tailbone a couple of days ago by rolling on a medicine ball the wrong way. It is sore, but there seems to be a very small amount of fluid leaking from that area. It is not blood or red, wonder if it could be spinal fluid and if so is it dangerous? Don t have any other symptoms. thank you. Marylyn. YYYY@YYYY
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your case history you are having a furuncle, my treatment advice is
-1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for 5-7 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like Levofloxacin and Azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
