How Abdominal Pain On The Right Side After An Appendectomy Be Treated?

I have had an appendectomy in 1982. I had a procedure to remove the endometriosis before i became pregnant with my first child in 1994. I have had my right ovary removed in 2013. The pain I have in my lower right side interferes with my Ironman training and becomes unbearable during races. Could it be the scar tissue? What procedure should I try to ease this pain?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist better to consult a general surgeon and plan for an ultrasound scan to rule out conditions like stump appendicitis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
