How Accurate Are HSV 2 Test Results?

Hello, Doctor. I recently got an std test and my HSV 2 test came back as 1.73. i was told to get tested again and i did today. i ve never had any sign of an outbreak and i have slept with 6 different people. Are there chances that this was a false positive and what should i do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

False positives are not common with HSV so if it positive then it is likely truly positive.

Some persons may not be aware of the fact that they are infected and this may be the case for you.
There are medications that you can use to treat any outbreaks that may occur and also to suppress outbreaks as well.

Unfortunately it is not curable so you have to be careful not to transmit the infection if it is confirmed.

I hope this helps
