How Beneficial Is An Early Diagnosis Of MDS?

Is there a benefit to an early diagnosis of myloedysplasia? My father has this. I have had several blood tests, showing high white cell counts, I have fatigue, achy joints ... May be from other causes, I guess ,but am just concerned because of genetics...
