How Can dry Cough Along With Itchy Throat Be Treated?

Hi I started having itchy throats couple of days ago. I figured it might be seasonal allergies so I took Claritin once but the next day I started coughing dry cough and still I felt my thirst is itchy and I have the urge to cough in episodes of 3 to 5 minutes. I started taking over the counter cough medicine but now when I cough, I feel part n in my lungs on the right side and some phlegm in the morning. Conidiophores that be pneumonia? I have no fever but feel drained and have headaches that last more than 3 hours.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to an allergic reaction.

I suggest you use antihistamines such as Levocetirizine.

I also recommend to drink liquids and use a humidifier at home.

If the symptoms continue prescribed corticosteroids may be needed.

I suggest consulting your doctor about this prescribed treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
