Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
So I have an almost 4 month old who just got done with the double ear infection however he seems to have a cough and I really stuffy nose like and it seems he s in a lot of pain but a mild temperature what do you think I should do, I can t see his doctor until Monday but he is so tired and can t really slerp
Ear infection in a 4 month old child while he has cough and stuffed nose very likely is due to acute otitis media. In this case examination of the ears is needed to confirm the infection. The treatment consists on antibiotics (amoxicillin high doses for ear infection 90mg/kg/day) and oral paracetamol and ibuprofen. Local warm compresses can be used on the ear to help with the pain as well. Make sure he is also drinking and eating well.
To conclude: he needs to see a doctor and very likely he will need antibiotics, meanwhile you can give him paracetamol, ibuprofen, plenty of fluids (breastfeed or give milk often and water as well to keep him hydrated) and local warm compresses on the ears (watch that you don't burn him, try them on your cheek first)
I hope this answers your query. Please let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
