How Can lower Back Pain In An Elderly Person Be Treated?

I am a 77 year old woman with pain in my lower right back adjacent to my buttucks, this happens when I first get out of bed & when I get up from sitting. I have to get up to urinate several times each night and I only urinate less than an ounce. I am afraid it may be my kidney since kidney problems run in my family.My Aunt died from kidney cancer so I have a fear of that.I do have arthritis in my lower back diagnosed by xray.

Hi,

A low backache you have seems to be arthritis in pelvic bone joint (sacrococcygeal)... which can be reduced by medications/mild physiotherapy/calcium & vitamin D supplements as per need.

As far as frequent urination in the night is concerned, I would advise getting your blood glucose level checked/also urine testing for infection/tumor marker test done periodically to exclude malignancy/kidney specialists regular consultation & care to detect any infection or cancer earliest...
