How Can pain In The Lower Back And Groin Be Treated?

Hello, My boyfriend picked up a very heavy peice of tile from the floor and strained his lower back. He has a hard time walking, sitting and sleeping. The pain is also effecting his groin area. He has been taking Ibuprofhen and it helps a little. Should he be applying heat or ice. It has been 3 days since this has happened.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
Pain in lower back may be due to sudden jerky movement or lifting an heavier object which might have caused slipped disk (prolapse of inter vertebral disk). If this is the cause then the pain can be intense and severe plus it will be radiating around the specific nerve route. Since the pain is felt in groin, it is better to get a doctors opinion. Only taking NSAID like Ibuprofen is just a temporary relief. There may be a need for muscle relaxant also. Applying ice would mostly help. But if pain persists please consult an orthopedic doctor. Thanks.
