How Can severe Cough Along With Wheezing Be Treated?

An x-ray has revealed a nodule on the lung ( of my mother 79). She has had a cough and cold for a few weeks and cough recently worsened last week...heard wheezing, however she has had a fever on and off for a week 100/101, extremely tired, loose cough. Had a C-scan today. We are told that can t tell us anything until tomorrow. I suspect pneumonia ( would that create a nodule look in an x-ray)? How must should I be afraid it is cancer? What other symptoms?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

We will try to help you in the best way possible. First of all, it's sad to know what your mother had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, it can be temporary infection or pneumonia which can get better with antibiotics use.

So far there is no conclusive evidence regarding malignancy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
