How Can severe Nausea Along With Dehydration Be Treated?

My Sister, a nurse practitioner, is hospitalized (3 days) with these symptoms.......nausea, weakness, tiredness, dehydration, renal failure: although responding to flushing with added potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, etc. and an antibiotic. Also, has elevated blood pressure (was on BP meds)......strong smelling stools, soft to runny. No blood in stools. Tests are being conducted. She thinks it could be a parasite in her bowels. Welcome to Health Care Magic,

I can certainly understand your concern about your sister's condition, it seems that the symptoms, nausea, diarrhea, renal failure could be the cause for her dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, there is a possibility of some infection , please let me know is there any positive finding in her investigations.

If I were treating doctor ,I would continue IV fluids with added potassium, magnesium, phosphorus and treat the cause with the help of investigations
