Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
In the middle of the night I started having intermittent intense pain on my right thigh. Looked fine on the skin surface. I m 67 & have low white cell count. Last night I took ibuprofen so that I could sleep. Today I still have the same on/off pain. I had the shingles vaccine, but am wondering if there is any point in seeing a doc. Thanks
You might have pulled a muscle or tendon in the thigh region. This is known as muscle spasm and the pain and discomfort intensifies after 24 hours and may persist for 3 days. You may please apply a combination of muscle relaxant and painkiller ointment. Such ointments are available as over the counter medications. Relaxy ointment is one of the leading ones available in the market. You may feel a slight burning when applying it for the first time.
Please take adequate rest if your thigh hurts. If you do not get relief even after applying ointment for 2 days then please consult your doctor immediately.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
