How Can severe Shoulder Blade Pain Be Treated?

Hello. I have right shoulder blade pain, ongoing for over 6 hours. The pain is just inside the shoulder blade area. I would label it mild to moderate. If I move my arm, cough or breath deeply, it worsens. I am in the middle of investigating a couple of health issue possibilities - testing for lung cancer, due to a lung nodule and I just had an echo-cardiagram because of strange back pain last week, spinal, very sharp. Awaiting test results now on those things. Just trying to decide whether to take myself to the ER over this shoulder pain or take a wait - see approach.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a sprain or ligament related problem. We have to rule out other causes like frozen shoulder also.

As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
